Computing/ICT – Mrs Day

Computing at St John Vianney Catholic Primary School

Our Computing curriculum at St John Vianney prepares pupils to participate in a rapidly changing world in which work and other activities are increasingly transformed by access to varied and developing technology. We recognise that Information and Communications Technology is an important tool in both the society we live in and in the process of teaching and learning. Pupils use tools to find, explore, analyse, exchange and present information responsibly, creatively and with discrimination. They learn how to employ Computer science to enable rapid access to ideas and experiences from a wide range of sources. Our vision is for all teachers and learners in our school to become confident users of computing so that they can develop the skills, knowledge and understanding which enables them to use appropriate resources effectively as powerful tools for teaching & learning.

Our Computing Technology vision is…

1. Everyone in our school should be able to use a computer and other technologies with confidence and expertise

2. We want ICT to improve the way we learn and teach

3. We want to be able to use ICT to allow learning to take place anywhere at any time

4. We want to use ICT to help improve the running of the school

5. We want high quality training to be available for all staff

6. We want everybody in our school to know when ICT use is appropriate

7. We want enough equipment for everyone to use, when they want to.

8. We want our equipment to be well maintained, available and easy to use

9. We want our Pupils to have high ICT capability

10. We want our school to be the centre of community learning and information.
