Art week February 2022
We were very busy during our Art Week. Finding out how we can make pictures using different things. In one session, we made some LEgo print pictures. Another day we used shapes to make an abstract picture. We then used different media to colour in each part of the picture, such as crayon, oil pastille and water colour paints.
Science: Our Body and the Senses (January 2022)
We drew around a member of our class and then labelled the parts of the body that we knew already. We then looked at our senses. Here are some photos of us using our sense of touch to find things in our school grounds that were different textures, including smooth, bumpy and rough. We used lots of brilliant language to describe what the items felt like.
English Experience Day (January 2022)
We had a brilliant time during our recent experience day for English. We watched an underwater scene and used our senses to explore what was happening. The children then drew their favourite animal and wrote adjectives to describe them. This really helped us to write exciting sentences in our next sentence stacking lesson.
DT: Making Puppets (December 2021)
We really enjoyed making puppets as part of our DT lessons. We decided to make alien themed puppets to help us with our reading of silly ‘alien’ words. We explored different techniques to safely and sensibly join fabric together, such as pinning, gluing and stapling. We then used a template to design and label our ideas before cutting out our puppet using felt. We closely followed our designs to add embellishments and finished off by evaluating our work: what we liked best and what we found tricky.
Tatton Park (December 2021)
We took a wonderful trip to Tatton Park for the ‘One Snowy Night’ trail. We had our trail sheet and discovered how Percy the Park Keeper helped his animal friends on a cold Christmas Eve. We gathered clues to find Percy’s surprise present and then at the end of the trail we hung our Christmas wishes on the tree, planted spring bulbs and even had delicious toasted marshmallows!
Spooky Welly Walk (October 2021)
We had so much fun, dressed up in our creepy costumes, exploring outside on the Spooky Welly Walk organised by our wonderful PTFA. It also tied in nicely with our Science topic Animals including humans! We found lots of body parts and afterwards we labelled the human body with all the parts we had found!
Forest School (October 2021)
Dan from KABs took us into our outdoor area for Forest School. It was wonderful to be able to appreciate our beautiful surroundings and we gathered materials around us to create a campfire and even toasted marshmallows. It was a wonderful afternoon, even if we did get a little wet!
