Through our teaching of art and design at St John Vianney, we intend for our pupils to:

  • Produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences
  • Become proficient in drawing painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques
  • Evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design
  • Know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms

‘I liked the Kandisnsky lesson when we copied the pieces of his artwork – Black Red was my favourite one‘ (Oliver, Year 4)

‘I like mixing colours and splashing!’ (Maggie, Year 1)

Year 1 Seasonal Art

Year One used a range of media to create artwork representing the four seasons of the year.

Year 3 Collage Art

Following the theme of animals, the children used coloured paper cut into squares and placed in positions in order to create a bee. They needed to separate the object from the background by using different coloured paper.

Year 3 Pointillism Art

Year 3 studied the art work of Georges Surat and recreated this style using cotton buds and paint.

‘I enjoyed the abstract art we did about refugees the best’ (Bobbie, Year 4)

‘I like art because I can use my imagination and be creative with lots of colours’ (Jude, Year 4)
